Rocks

Saglek was approximately 50 miles north of the tree line and there was not much visible vegetation. However, the soil and rocks were teeming with life if one got down and looked closely.  Unfortunately I didn’t spend much time looking but I do remember marveling at the amount of life that seemed to thrive in the harsh environment including mosses, small flowers, spiders, mice, crows, caribou, fox, the occasional owl, and of course the fish— Cod, Sculpin (which we called double-uglys), Char at the river mouths and Rainbow Trout further up the rivers.
